Corys

Black Diamond Cory Cat   Corydorus hastatus

a.k.a. Micro Cory, True Dwarf Cory

Size: up to 1"  pH: 6 - 8  dH: 2 - 25 Temp: 72 - 78 F,  Origin: South America: western Amazon River basin in eastern Ecuador and Loreto, Peru

Chemicals: Freshwater Essential found at Aquarium Supplements

Food: New Life Spectrum "Small Fish Formula" or "H20 Stable Wafers" found at Fish Foods

A very small mid-water schooling cory and seems to prefer to sit on the leaves of aquarium plants rather than sitting on the bottom.  You should house these dwarf Cory's with each other in a shoal with about about 1 dozen being a nice number in a species tank, as these small Corydoras will not do well in a community tank with robust tank mates unless they are housed with small non aggressive Characins.  This is the smallest Cory to date and the females usually are a bit bigger than the males. They are similar to Corydoras pygmaes, but the black diamond shape in the caudal peduncle and into the tail of hastatus, with the top and bottom of this diamond ringed with white, tells them apart as pygmaes sports a black band that runs the full length of the body, ending just short of the tail end, and ending in a slightly broader band

Size at shipping: about the length of a dime. SHIPS GREAT!

Dwarf Cory Cat   Corydorus habrosus

a.k.a. Dainty Cory, Pygmy Cory

NOTE:  On occasion, we may substitute Nano Dwarf Cory Cats Corydorus pygmaeus, if we run out of the C. habrosus.  The main difference is C. habrosus is spotted, the C. pygmaeus is striped.

Size: up to 1",  pH: 6.3 - 7.5  GH: 8  Temp: 72 - 78 F,  Origin: River Salinas, Valenzuela, South America

Chemicals: Freshwater Essential found at Aquarium Supplements

Food: New Life Spectrum "Small Fish Formula" or "H20 Stable Wafers" found at Fish Foods

This is a rare find in this hobby as this Cory (one of the smallest and most adorable) is not usually found at your local pet store.  These little fellas are shipped at about the length of a dime and they'll probably only grow up to the length of a quarter.  (Pull out your coins and get an idea of how small these are!)  These are a gentle, easy to breed catfish that will scavenge the bottom of your aquarium for left-overs.  They will not harm your plants, and they co-exist here at our nursery with all of the fish and shrimp that we sell, but they could end up being dinner for your large carnivore fishes.
